I'm absolutely thrilled with this integral version of the legendary F-S fighting knife made by South African knife maker Derek Rausch. I learned about him through my good friend Steven65 Steven65 . I wasn't familiar with his work before this. I can't emphasize enough how good his work is! These magnificent daggers are made from a single piece of round bar steel, and over 90% of the material is lost during machining. The handle is hollow, and the only loose part of the blade is the pommel that can be screwed on separately or glued on with Loctite, depending on the customer's preference. The handle is hollow to reduce weight. One dagger has the exact same guard shape as the F-S, the whole knife only differs by about 5 grams from the original. The sheaths are also top notch!

It's a pleasure doing business with Derek. Ordering, payment, and shipping from South Africa were just as easy as if I had ordered the knife from my own country. Each knife has its own serial number. Derek makes two versions of this knife, the only difference being the hilt. The right one is his own trademark design, and he's been using it for many years. Derek has been a member of the South African Knife makers' Guild since 1994, and you can tell when you pick this knife up! The attached photo was taken by my significant other. I don't have long nails, as you accidentally see in the photo :D

They are exceptional knives and Derek is a very exceptional individual…I’m fortunate to have all of his models including these and another landing tomorrow…his latest F/S rendition that replicates the original with an oval guard.

The other two are new models, one with an o-ringed handle.

I can fully understand why you love them so much. I also went all in and ordered a few of the other excellent blades Derek makes. Outstanding individual with ditto knives!

Does anyone know the technical info like what steel, what hardness or HT protocol, etc?

The knives look very nice, and remind me of all the times I had a chance to buy a Chris Reeves hollow handle and did not!

I do know it's D2 (Bohler K110) semi-stainless steel with a black Cerakote finish, I do not know the exact hardness but I'm very sure it's optimum.

As Dawkind Dawkind said it's Bohler D2.

Derek is very pedantic with his work. All these are fully machined and ground in house. I'm sure if you want the exact specifications Derek would be happy to provide it.

I assure you if you buy one, you will not be disappointed. These are huge work for Derek, who runs a small specialist shop, and they will not be available in any volume.

My advice is if you want one, get one sooner rather than later.

Hi, I’m new to the forum and very interested in the FS style daggers. Would anyone be willing to share Derek Rauschs contact info? Thanks in advance.
You will find him on Instagram. That is the best way to contact him. Or message me on IG and I'll send it to you. My IG details are in my signature line below.
