I am wondering if I am normal. Please give me your opinions.
My wonderful wife gave me a custom shop 112 for Christmas last year. Finger grooved oak in engraved s30v was my Grail knife. It is immaculate and beautiful. I carried this knife every day until I had to fly to another state for a month of work. I was scared an airline accident could happen, so I left it in the safe. I actually missed the knife like I would a good dog. I wasn't knifeless. I took a Vantage Force Pro, AG Crosslock and a production 112. I just had a wistful longing for MY knife.
When I got home, I did the only sensible I could think of. I ordered an identical knife from the custom shop. Now I have a stunt double to travel with while my sentimental Grail knife lounges safely at home awaiting my return. I may be crazy but I am comfortable traveling and quite fine with my love for a knife. Jim

I think your perfectly normal, for a knifenut! I will admit to having a few duplicates of favorites just to be safe It's all good.

I have a couple of double's but I often travel with a cheaper version of my "good knife". You never know when you might forget and not put it in the check in baggage, or when someone will go through your baggage and take it. So, if I cannot have control over it, I might not take it.

So, in my opinion you do not need the extra one and might as well send it to me ;):D Just kidding.

I have doubles of few discontinued knives I would have a hard time replacing, just in case.

If I'm traveling by air I take a common version of a 112,
rather than my favorite.
Just heard too many stories of valuables disappearing from
checked luggage.

Showed this one to my wife. Now she knows I'm normal. And there are others that have to have duplicates of their favorite knife. Just got another 112 that has not been showed yet. May wrap it as a present from Santa.

You mean there are people who don't have at least one double of their favorite knives??!! ;)

Cool story. Ironically I would have felt I was missing something if I had to leave my Vantage Pro. Went to a wedding tonight and carried a crkt m16 instead of the Vantage because it was black and smaller.
Yes...I was dancing my a$$ off :p

I don't see anything too unusual about your post, other than I ordered the same configuration of the 112 just two weeks ago.

I need to go with Rat to the meetings. I always get double, triples, in some cases quads! Many are rare/ discontinued so I snatch them up when available
