Stupid GEC question- Bolsters

I have noticed something on the GEC's that I haven't been able to grasp due to my limited intellect.
Look at the #15 pattern- the knives with clip points do not have bottom bolsters while the knives with drop points have them.
Look at the #92 pattern- Northfields have a bottom bolster and Tidioutes do not (for some models).
WHY?????
This is causing me many sleepless nights. Can anyone help?

Intentional variety of patterns to appeal to different people's tastes, and to entice collectors to buy more than one knife of the same pattern.

You may now go get some sleep.

Jack knives (all blades pivot from the same end) can have rear bolsters or not. Rear bolsters add some protection to the handle slabs if dropped, but they take away from the beauty of the bone, stag or horn running the full length of the handle. Purely an individual choice. Knives which have blades pivoting from both ends will have both ends bolstered, or neither end bolstered (shadow pattern). Jacks can be shadow pattern as well (no bolsters).
