some things never change.....
when i was in middle school back in the early 80's....a girl was picking on a kid, who had emotional problems.....story as old as time itself.....kid had enough and grabbed his pencil and stabbed her through her hand.
no one banned pencils and the kids parents gave their boy a whopping that made him never stab anyone ever again with a pencil....i still know these folks.......course that kid died in a motorcycle accident a decade or so ago......but back to the story......his parents paid for the medical attention needed and apologized to the girls parents and when the girls parents found out their daughter was picking on this kid they gave her a whopping that she couldn't sit for a couple days without whincing in pain.....point being is the parents became friends and so did the kids. school did give them both detention.....but it took no laws or govts to solve this problem. police weren't involved and didn't need to be.
knife laws allot like gun laws are knee jerk reactions not based on logic or common sense, even though the current govt like to use the term allot nowadays...."common sense". almost always it's the furthest thing from common sense. they are more about controlling the masses and making us feel we need the govt to keep us safe. in reality these laws don't actually make anyone any safer. nothing will change until folks realize they can solve their own problems and take care of themselves, and they don't need the govt to get involved. i doubt i'll see that change in my lifetime, but i stay optimistic.
your story there is also the reason i decided to work for myself. i still follow state and fed laws as they apply, but i carry a fixed blade, large or small when i want to and when i think i might need it. same with folders, autos, balis, assisted openers, large or small......i do what i want, and no boss can tell me too bad so sad.......
