Hello,

I hate to be this guy, but I recently ordered my first khukuri from HI (18 inch Ang Khola with bone) and was wondering what the ship times normally were from the store. I dont see a tracking # or order status on the site, just the initial email saying that it had been placed.

Not that it is a big deal, I am not in a major hurry or anything...but I am pretty excited to check this thing out. Cant wait to do some chopping.

Thanks!

Usually, it would be at my door on the second day if it is a Deal-of-the-day knife from this forum; but if it is off the shopping site, it might be longer depending on the current inventory in Reno, in which case you will get an e-mail that mentions that they are waiting for the delivery from Nepal.

P.S. Great purchase!

Yangdu has some secret arrangement with the Post Office that can get a Khukuri from Reno to Australia in around 5 working days, so I imagine you will be seeing your Khuk tomorrow or the day after at the latest. ;)

Oh, Welcome Aboard. And beware of HIKV: it really can take control of your mind and wallet! :p :D

Thanks guys!

I wasnt worried, just wanted to know if it was OK to be excited this week.

I look forward to seeing this beast!

Welcome to the fold:)

Seriously, if USPS does their part, you will swear that Yangdu is using wormholes to ship her knives. UPS ground from Reno to southern Indiana? bah! 5 days if I'm lucky. USPS, 3 days tops...sometimes 2:thumbup:

Just grabbed this beast from the PO.

Much to my surprise, it came with a handwritten note on the paperwork explaining how I was sent a Chiruwa instead of a standard, and how it is stronger with the horn handle.

So, I have an 18.5 inch long full tang BEAST of a chopper. How in the world did I wait until now to find these things?!?

I cant wait to see how this thing works later!

Now to search the threads and find out who made this beauty...

Steely... I'd say he's out making splinters

Have fun, Tripton, and welcome!

Haha - I just love the time it took between Tripton's initial question and the time he posted back saying he received it (~13 hours). The longest I've personally had to wait for a kukri to arrive at my door step was 3 days - and that's including the day I purchased it. Aunty is great about shipping out the same day as the payment is received if it's a DotD item

Whats the little symbol near the bolster look like?

Ill try to get a pic up later, but on the left side of the blade near the bolster there are 4 symbols. With the tip pointing up, the top two are totally foreign to me. The bottom right looks like a little sun/new mexico flag symbol, and the lower left looks like a 3 leaf clover or a flower of some type with the stem pointing down towards the handle.

if it's Dil, you got a good one. He's becoming one of my favorite kamis. He does very Kumar-like work:thumbup:

Alright, here are some pics.

Upon close inspection, i guess I'll have a tiny bit of cleaning to do by the stampings there, but no big deal.

Pretty, isnt it? :D

Sorry, I will link to the whole sticky next time, my bad.

I will leave the ID to the experts as well. :)

You are really good at the macro pictures! I shake too bad for those most of the time.
