Is there anyway to properly remove the wood chips that get stuck to the coating on my BK2 every time I baton/cut wood with it? And can anyone vouch for removing the coating on it? it just seems like it'd be less maintenance in the long run. Thanks

When I clean a blade after it takes on smears & small chips from use on wood I just go over it with rubbing alcohol.
Good solvent for most wood residues.

You can find lots of posts where people have stripped the coating from their Beckers. Most put on some kind of patina in order to have a control over what the blade will end up looking like someday anyway. Check the Becker forum here for lots of discussion on this sort of thing.

I've seen lots of stripped BK2's, but regarding cleaning of any blade this size, dish-soap and a good toothbrush (stiff nylon) have always worked for me, same as I use to clean my surgical instruments. Then rinse, dry, and wipe with EtOH.
