I used to just send pics by message to my Gmail account from my Verizon phone. Wasn't there a way to pull the pics directly from a storage account on Verizon's website?

you can send your pictures from your phone to vzpic (or something like that), which is accessed from verizons website. Of course though, my knowledge of verizon is a few years old...

Depending on your phone, most images are stored locally on the phone itself. This would be either on the phones built in memory or on a Micro SD card. As stealthchaser mentioned, the VZWpics site may have them.
If your phone is equipped with either a USB to Mini USB or USB to Micro USB that would be the best bet. You would plug the cord into your computer, the other into the phone (your phone essentially becomes like a mounted portable hard drive).
