I've put off asking this question thinking that I would be able to find the answer without exposing my ignorance. No such luck. So, here's the question: How is the little JMK-1 supposed to be worn? It doesn't have a conventional frog -- the sheath came with just a little strip of leather attached, but what do you do with it? Is there some traditional way that it's supposed to be worn? Is this what some folks call a "dangle" sheath? Do you just tie the strip of leather around your belt?

I'm not completely sure, but I think it is supposed to be worn around the neck like a Tibetan thee dagger. Like I said, not sure, but that's what I think and it would be a good carry option I think even if I'm wrong. I'll let the experts have the final say on that, though.

Thanks, Matt. Now I have another question about the JMKs -- the one I received had absolutely no marks on it whatsoever, not even the HI mark. Is this true of all the JMKs?

Steven you probably missed the post where the carry options of the JKM-1 was discussed and with the topic drift we usually have I'm not sure where it may be, but......

The original carry methods of the Leuku and Puukko by the Sammi People were varied due to their very heavy winter clothes.
I have seen pix where they were carried around the waist towards the front or hung from a strap that was over the shoulder.
I am replacing the strap on mine for a softer one from deer skin that will be a bit longer for a more secure tie to help prevent loss.
And you are exactly right that they can be tied around your belt.
I think I would like the toward the front belt carry as it would be very easy to grasp the sheath with one hand while drawing the knife with the other.

And my JKM-1 has no markings either.
I believe Uncle Bill said this was due to several different kamis making them and they didn't feel right about putting Kumar's mark on their knives. The HI letters were liekly not put on the knives as James was offering them for resale to the public, but I don't recall that question coming up for sure.

Thanks for the info, guys. Uncle Bill, do you think you could ask the kamis to mark future JMKs with the HI markings? Personally, I would much prefer my JMK-1 to be so marked. Without the HI marking, the khuk really doesn't have any kind of pedigree to validate its origin. In fact, I'd get another one in a hearbeat if I could get a marked one.
