Quick question: Why is it advantageous for a frame lock knife to have an "early lockup?" Is it because with time / wear the lock bar will move more? Just wondering....

Yep, that's it. As the knife is used, the lockbar will wear and eventually meet the other handle slab. This will probably take a very long time, but it could happen. If this happens, the blade could develop play. On the other hand, too early of a lock-up could compromise the lock's integrity.

The only stupid question is the one that is never asked. There are, however, many stupid answers. Frostyfingers' answer above is not one of those - he hit the nail right on the head.

Thanks to both of you that replied. And thanks for not thinking it was a stupid question. I'm new to this hobby, and I'm just trying to learn and understand. You two exemplify how nice the people on this forum have been. Much appreciated!
