stupid question

New to this site. Been collecting knives for the past 30 years, was once Case dealer. Can you sell knives to better "homes" (I have sentimental attachments to many of my knives) on this web site with purchased membership or on eBay? I know eBay protects sales -d o they do the same here? It's just nice to be around people who know their knives. Actually, I probably know more about Case tiny toothpicks and butterbeans than anyone else - I have found tiny toothpicks that Case didn't have on their master list - advised them, took pics, etc. and they were put on their list. What with the internet, we are able to keep track of so many things now. Record keeping was quite lax ( to be polite) in the past 80 years. I have quite a few hand forged knives too (collected when I was able to afford them!), Ruanas, Randalls, Lyles . . . I need help!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would like to sell to people who really care about their collection and are looking for specific knives - I saw one thread where someone said they had a knife with the initials BRJ on it - I saw no response and have one of them - lol. SHL - can't figure out who made it and no receipt. Pretty good record keeping on my part, but a few get lost in the wayside. Spent the last week matching sheaths, flyers and boxes to knives. I think this may be a good place to start! Please my main question is if anyone knows who BRJ is, please respond. Hope to join the sellers rank here and pay for membership.

Welcome.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to find "good homes" for your knives here. There are more collectors on this site, but you really don't know what the buyer plans to do with the knife. More than a few people troll this forum to buy and sell elsewhere. If you look at some people's sales over time they are appear to be mini-dealers. Other people have short attention spans, and this month's pride and joy is next month's sale. If you truly want your knives to go to collectors who care and keep them, then you'll need to find them in another way than just posting an ad for sale.

THis is a great place to get information on a knife, just be prepared to put up a picture. The identification subforum has a sticky with instructions. You need to pay for a Gold membership if you want to know value, but all other questions can be answered with a free membership.
