Ok as the title says this is a stupid question. The plastic liner in “ most” sheathes from Buck, do you keep them in or take them out?

I always left them in thinking it was part of the design as a safety feature. I noticed tonight after cleaning the brass on my 113 that the plastic liner was pushed to the side instead of opened up. I pulled it out and realized it was split down the back. I started looking at my other knives and realized my 2 Vanguards don’t have them but my other fixed blades do.The plastic insert in the 120 is split too.

Is this liner just something that they put in the sheath for shipping and then you suppose to remove it. I know it’s a dumb question but now I’m curious if I’ve left shipping material in my sheaths all this time.😂
