hey guys, I know there are probably 648926372 threads on sub-$50 knives out there, and I also know (since I'm not completely stupid) that its generally accepted that the Rat 1 and Tenacious are probably the best knives in this price range, but can you guys recommend some other great options? Not that those arent great knives, but there are tons and tons of options. Thanks!

Cold Steel Voyager series. I think even the XLs can be found for right around $50. Also, depending on intended use, I'd say the Kershaw Skyline is a better quality under $50 folder than the RAT or Tenacious.

Lots by Kershaw, CRKT, the Ontario Rat and Utilitac, Gerber, etc. what do you want in the knife? What features? Etc. that helps people narrow down what suggestions to make.

I've got a para 2, griptilian, etc and am just looking for a fun occasional carry, tactical-ish knife, 3.25-4in blade, preferably g-10 scales

Also, Böker has some nice offerings in that price range. The Subcom line in particular is well loved by many users. In praticular, the Chad Los Banus Subcom Titanum is a titanium framelock you can get for less than $40. There is also a Subcom Wharncliffe and a Subcom hawkbill, for those who like those blade shapes.

Here are a few I'd take over the Rat-1 or Tenacious:

Any Alox Victorinox would make a fine every day knife. I carry a Pioneer often and have owned an old-style Soldier and Farmer.

Kerhaw Skyline, NRG (I don't have personal experience with the NRG, but I've heard good things). The OD-1 and the RAM are right around 50$, with the RAM being a couple bucks over the 50$ mark. They're both pretty wicked knives - there's an OD-1 in my pocket right now and it's right up there with the smoothest knives I own.

Boker Exkellibur (again, I've heard good things, but haven't owned one myself).

i agree with most of the options others have suggested as well and would like to add the kabar phatbob.
its is an excellent knife if you dig the looks (i personally do :)), super nice hollow grind and great detent/fast smooth deployment...

i would also check out a few cold steel offerings such as the voyagers at your price range.

You Could Probably Find A Spyderco Delica 4 In That Price Range.
Maybe Even An Endura.
Or Look At The Spyderco Native! s30v And Great Materials For Under $50!

kershaw blackout. Its tactical-ish. I think i got mine for around $50. Love mine. Lightning fast!

I just paid $52 for a Spyderco Centofante 3. It will make a nice gift for a new brother-in-law. Great knife for that price range. I carry a CRKT Hissatsu 2 at the moment. It's a decent knife with a nice look. I believe it can be had for $45-ish.

+1 for the voyagers, I can personally vouch that they are the best bang for your buck at that price range
