Well I have $60 total shipped to spend on a new edc knife.
I'm really thinking of getting a ZDP-189 blur blem off of kershaw guy its on top of my list right now. I just like the writings on the blade and this one is sterial (not a deal breaker).

I already have
spyde persistence and cat
SOG flash I and twitch II
Kershaw JYD II compostite blade

I'm really diggin knifes with anAxis lock like the 555hg benchmade right now so if any you can think of any in this price range let me know.

I was just wanting some different recommendations on other knifes in this price range. I'm open to all.

Everyone needs a Blur or two in their collection and the ZDP Blurs form Kershawguy is a heck of deal.

I Love ZDP189 and I Love Blurs. If I hadn't just bought a TI JYDII I'd probably buy one of them Blurs too.

I think you could probably snag a ZDP delica or endura for 60 shipped on the exchange here

I would go with the ZDP Blur from kershawguy. The deal just simply can't be beat.

ZDP is a nice steel but in a recurve it would make me think twice.

ZDP-189 isn't bad if you keep on top of it. I'm sharpening up my S60V blur right now, I let it get a little too dull but its still real easy on the Sharp Maker. I wouldn't worry about sharpening the recurve too much.

I disagree. I've owned two Blurs and more than 5 Kershaws, I can't stand handling them after using a Benchmade Griptillian and a Spyderco Endura.

I'm the opposite. I have Spydercos and a few Benchmades but I still love the entire Blur line. I've done my best to get every model but I'm still a few short. I still need the ZDP model. The SG2 and S30V are my favorites so far. I have the S60V, and like it but I prefer the other two. Especially the SG2. I really like that steel they have in the laminate.

I still say it reminds me of a powder process BG42. It does better than BG42 at RC 62, IMO, and is less chippy at the thin edges I like. Mind you BG42 is one of my all time favorites so that's a big compliment from me.

Takefu makes some very nice steels, and Super Gold 1 & 2 are ones I would love to see catch on in a big way seeing as BG42 has all but vanished.

The ZDP Blur looks like a great deal.

The Blur has always been a great design but the latest choices for steels have brought the design to (IMO at least) a new level.

thanks for the replys.
Looks like most are keen on the Blur.
Hows the lock up on your guys blurs?
I have heard some bad things about this liner lock...is it all hype or just a select few?

I think that as far as hardness goes the zdp and sg2 are at the top of the heap.

i bought regular Blur, for my wife. as far as the liner lock, it's not as beefy as i'd like it to be for what function it serves. however, if i ever had one doubt about it failing, i wouldn't have given it to her. i just like things a wee bit over built. plus i'm generally a FB guy, anyway.

i usually carry a BM710, as a secondary, and i don't feel i have that much more knife than her. i mean, i could tell which one cost more, even if i had never heard of either company, but it's not a HUGE quality difference.

in fact, i catch myself starting to snag up on her knife, every now and then.... along with that iPhone i got her :D

Go with the factory second Blur from kershawguy. Love mine.
Bottom one...

This photo belongs to mqqn, but it shows off the composite Blur better than my photos...

JNieporte thanks for all the pics. I see one pic with the lock up. Do you happen to have any pics of your knifes lockup?
I pretty much have my mind on zdp blur. just gonna have to pull the trigger I guess.

Hi Mr. Dull Edge -

The lockup is just fine on the two examples that I bought from kershawguy.

The composite blur is a great deal on a very nice knife made in USA.

I also have a Benchmade Mini Griptilian that I bought from a online store for right at $60 delivered, and it is a very nice knife too - but it is not assisted opening, and is smaller than the Blur - so they really do not compare directly.

Overall I think the Blur is a higher quality knife, but remember that the composite Blur retails for $135, and normally sells for the mid $80's. The Blur has nice aluminum handles, whereas the mini Grip has plastic on my example.

Mr. Nieporte - please feel free to use any of my pictures - that is why I take them and put them on my web site!

best regards -
