I have a very small Spyderco folding knife. It's silver, and says that it's made in China. I think it was only like $10. I wear it on a necklace.

I think it's this one:

I want to get my wife a similar knife-necklace, but my wife is very petite. Hate to say it, but I would like a knife even smaller than this spyderco. Are there any truly tiny folding knives that remain functional, or is this spyderco the smallest thing out there?

A.G. Russell makes a couple that are pretty small. If you go to his website and check under the A.G. Russell brand you'll see them.

I don’t know of any knife worth the box they’ll come in that come in under the 12 grams of the Bug…

Honestly I would get her something like this and have her put it on her key chain, it comes in a few different colors, choices of serations or plain edge as well as premium steels like VG-10 and H1. It will cost around $25 and comes in at a gargantuan 18 grams but since it has a lock and superior steel it’s a much better knife no matter how you look at it.

I seem to remember SMKW having some knives small enough to be worn as earrings, but I don't think they were really functional. That's what I'm looking for, though...only functional if possible.

The CRKT Ken Onion Eros 2 is 3 " closed, 2" blade and 5" opened. It weighs .7 of an ounce. It certianly may be too nice to wear on a keychain though being of titanium scales but they are pretty nice knives although much pricier than the Ladybug Salt or Bug, both of which are fantastic keychanin knives. I own a PE Ladybug Salt and a Bug and find them useful. Expecially the Ladybug salt for my flyfishing vest. For les than $10 they are pefect for what you described but if you are ready to pop out more money the Eros 2 is more of a usefl size when deployed yet small and very light when closed. Sounds like J. Mattson has it wrapped up for you IMHO though.

I'll second the A.G. Russell ultimate pen knife. It's got titanium scales, a very sharp vg10 blade and a little bail perfect for hanging it from a necklace.

Yep, I got one of those: http://www.agrussell.com/ag-russell-ultimate-pen-knife---titanium/p/RUS-P3TIB/
We're talking about 0.2oz here and the VG10 blade comes 'shaving sharp'.

For exercise I walk at a fast pace for an hour each day and I don't like to be weighed down so I have a key ring with a key to the front door, a fauxton light & an A.G. Russell Ultimate Pen Knife. I can barely feel that key ring in my pocket. That's as lightly equipped as I ever get when I leave the house.

On a keyring I would say that 0.2oz would be light enough and the titanium & VG-10 stainless should be good for corrosion resistance (important for something resting against the skin). The Spyderco is 2.9" closed & 0.4oz whereas the Ultimate Pen Knife is 2" closed & 0.2oz. I'd say that buying one from A.G. Russell would be totally worth it.

Have you given any thought to something like the Victorinox Classic? Nice and small, but still has a variety of handy tools on it
