My SFB has been on vacation for the past month or so, getting some work done. Just came back today, and I'm very happy with the end result. Chase Axinn did the aftermarket work for me ( www.chaxknives.com )

I asked him to fit the knife with blue tweed G-10 scales, and to skeletonize them to match the handle design. He did an awesome job with it, the scales look great, and they're nice and grippy.

I also asked him to get rid of the rust prone bead blasted finish, and he put on a very fine stonewashed finish. Almost looks like a satin finish, until you look closely. I really like the look of it.

Here are some pics. It's a little overcast here today(looks like a storm coming) so this was the best I could do with the limited light I had.

Next up is a nice kydex sheath when I get some extra cash flow.

Enjoy:cool:

That looks absolutely great. I had actually been pondering what kind of aftermarket scales I would get for mine when they finally come out.

Congrats on the blade. How were you able to get one?

Scott...it looks AWESOME!!!!...I love what you had done to the Subcom, looks like you added strenght to the grip without the bulk...should make a fine neck knife without the problems of printing under the shirt...I just love it! Enjoy.....Doc:D (transcribed from Spyderco Forum comments) Glad I learned how to use the cut and paste option on my puter...LOL......Doc:thumbup:

It's got a little bit of thickness, but still not that much. It's 7/16" thick at the handle now.

I try not to tuck my shirts in if at all possible, so imprinting wouldn't be an issue for me with loose shirts.;)

That looks awesome Scott ! Did the mods cost you much ? looks like they did a quality job on it also !

Not at all. Including shipping to and from, the whole project cost less than the knife itself(well, would have if it hadn't been a gift)

Here are some more in hand shots of it...

Overall size about 5.5" (140mm for the rest of the world) give or take.

Oh, that is very nice, Scott.
I may have to send mine off for some work. Chax knives
are some good ones.
Thanks, TJT

Nice work bro and don`t worry i`m up at stupid hours sometimes as well ! There`s some nice looking bali`s in the background also !

Aloha Scott,

Whoa! Now THAT is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeT!!!

I swear that Chase does great stuff for a guy who "just started" doing this sort of thing! Great guy also...

Congrats and enjoy it bro!

God bless:thumbup:

Looking good, Scott!

That's the first mod I've really gotten excited over in a long time, do you like the added thickness?

I think the added thickness makes it fill the hand more. Whole package feels more secure now.
