My SUBCOM Folder arrived today!
My first initial reaction out of the box was... :jerkit:

Naw...Just Kidding With Ya, I just had to use that "Smilie" :D :D :D

Seriously...My first initial reaction out of the box was, YES! This is cool!

The knife is slightly smaller than I thought, but I was also surprised to find it had some heft to it. Not a lot of course, but enough for it to say to me.... this is a well built folder.

The blade is incredibly sharp, as said over at... the "other place"... freakishly sharp!
Now that I've held one, I can say that the grip is fantastic! I thought it might be hard to a good grip with such a small knife, naw, not with this one!

Well done Chad, well done Boker!
Here's two   for this one!

Congratulations Outlaw. Mine arrived on Friday so I can understand your excitement. Showed it to my local dealer and now he wants one.

I agree, espicially once they hold one. I can easilly see "word of mouth (or in this case "hand")" selling these. Haven't used mine yet but it sounds like the steel will perform very well.

It really does. I swear it's not 420. Maybe they accidentally used better steel;)

Dear Friends,

I am also in receipt of a SubCom and am quite impressed. I am going to carry it daily for a while and see how it works out. Very small and unobtrusive, but I believe it will be exceedingly useful.

Could someone point me in the right direction on where to get one? I want to see if it has what it takes to displace my EDC world traveling cricket.

Howdy ZH.
You can order them straight from us at Boker.
Call 1-800-992-6537, and you can order from the front office, or
dial extension 21, and you can order from me.
You won't be disappointed when you get one.
Thanks,Terry

Are you kidding, 420J2 steel? ..............you can get a better knife for the same amount of money, like some of the CRKT in AUS6M. Or better yet, save your money and get the Al Mar SLB..........it is a safekeeper.

I used to be a Boker fan, but in nowaday when manufacturers are moving to higher standard and steel (like 154CM, ATS-34...) boker still charge almost same amount of cash for their knives in 440C, that is up with that?

You got to question that.

Cheers,

Juice

I had two questions on the SUBCOM, which I think is the coolest/cutest knife I have seen in a while.

Where is it made? 420j2 makes me think China. I don't want to pay $30 for a Chinese folder. With the exchange rate that's too much. But I would gladly pay the same amount for a German factory to make it.

Is it really 420j2? 420j2 is a specific steel with virtually no Carbon and it stinks. But if it's some other European steel that is sometimes called 420 generically, it could be decent.

Aloha Juice,

Sorry for the late reply...I been in Hell a LOT lately...

The 420J2 IS sharp, and this I attribute to the blade thickness being only two mm.

As for the price issue, I cannot answer that...I don't work for 'em, just work *with* them.:)

God bless:cool:

Aloha Carl64,

Thank you for your kind words regarding the design of the SUBCOM F.

The folder is in fact, as my KnifeBro 224477 pointed out, made in Taiwan. The steel is also, in fact, 420J2...Initially, the blade was to be made of AUS8, but there was some kinda "mix up", and the factory used 420J2.

Again, mahalo and God bless:cool:

I like the look of the subcom, but was wondering if you have a Canadian dealer I could go to in Ontario?

Hmm. Halfway I guess. I am about to make a large purchase with my Christmas budget, so I might pick one up while I am piling it all on. :)

Well, it's done now! I just ordered one from the Knifecenter, along with some other stuff.

By the way, they also have some good prices on some of the cool-looking Bokers if any of you Boker fans didn't already know:
Superliner 2060 w/Ti handle: 79.95
Titan3 w/ 440c (440v sucks BTW, so this is actually better): 76.95

Those are both about $20 less than they usually go for, if you even find them for sale.

Aloha and mahalo Carl64,

I hope you are happy with the SF when it arrives. Please keep us posted!

God bless and thanks again!
