This is my first post on Bladeforums and I reserved it for something special. I would like to write my impression of subcom. There are many reviews on the subject so I would like to give my views and feelings about it more than just say it cuts good. We all know that already.

I had many knifes, mostly spyderco so my standards are really high and I see my self as a demanding customer. I won't write to much about looks and stuff like that as it was said many times before. The only thing I can say It is a BEAUTY and worth every penny. I don't buy knifes because of their looks but more as a tool with a purpose. My main and primary focus is self defense. I think that though any knife can and will perform good when using it for SD, there are some that excel. I first found that with spyderco yojimbo. It'a great knife, no doubt about it. I had it in my pocket 24/7.

But than I got subcom :) Its hard to explain to someone who has never seen it in person what a great impression you get when you handle it for the first time. I can tell you, my view of a good SD knife had changed. I always considered that it should be big. Well, I still think that and that is something I find absolutely magical about sf. It's a very small knife when closed, but opened it changes to a big and very very dependable knife. The grip is awesome, the blade concealed but still providing a mighty bite when necessary. I kind of see it as special forces of knifes. You never know what hits you, you are just bleeding after the attack. The blade it self is big enough not to get scared by a bigger knife like yojimbo. It can walk beside theme with head sticking high. As I said, I have knifes for self defense and this little boy would do that like a charm. But that doesn't mean it isn't suitable for other chores, although honestly I didn't put it to use that much. For what I did it performed just as good as any other good knife would. The one thing I also find very pleasing is the reaction I get from non-knife people. They all love it, period. Not one person so far has said anything bad about it, which isn't that common when showing knifes to people. And I tell you, it feels nice. As I am also a new proud owner of black sf I would like to wrote something about that. First it has all the good things regular sf has, the size and shape is identical. The only thing different is the serrations and of course this soldier comes masked in black. What a beauty, I tell you. The black finish looks good and solid, I don't think it will cheep quickly. I am not fan of serrations so I am thankful this boy comes with a combo edge. You get the best form both worlds so you really can't be disappointed. The next one on my list is wharcom, that little fighter sure looks promising. I am proud to say that I am addicted to subcoms :)

To make a long story short the subcom has in my view only one big flaw. It's too damn nice looking. I get hammered, begged and plead for that I sell or give my little sf every time I show it to someone. And sometimes even if I don't :) . I have to learn not to show it any more, it really is getting hard to explain it won't happen.

What a great knife!!! I have it with me 24/7. Good bay Yojimbo.

Great review, and one heck of a first post. Keep up the good work. The Wharcom is coming in soon, and it is right up you alley. Keep you eyes peeled!

If we take the knife triangle into account (pick two):

-----------Materials/Quality--------------

Design ---------------------------- Price

We find that the Subcom is actually the perfect knife: it defies the triangle, it tears down everything we have come to accept as normal! Aus-8 (done right none the less), Superb design with very little flaws, excellent fit and finish, for $30!?!? What's next? Are they going to let Pluto back into the planet club? The Subcom has dazzled me!
P.S.: Triangles rule!

Very nice review,Drejc:)And i agree,It's one special knife...actually its my favorite knife.
