that would me jigged buffalo horn and black carbon fiber...
So the 1st photo from Left to right would be:
the Wharcom is Desert Ironwood, Bocote next, Cocobolo, then the Buffalo and carbon fiber...
thanks for looking, Potterma does excellent work....
All the pivot screws were "reversed" for adjustablity from the clip side....;)

Just bought my first Boker burnt biscuit. I really like the way the subcom feels in my hands and for $20.00 you can't beat the price. One problem I noticed right away is that the lock isn't centered. Do any of you guys have this problem? Does anyone have suggestions for a solution to this problem?? "Daywalker", feel free to chime in here. I hope this thing doesn't close on my fingers when I'm using it because the blade is wicked sharp. Am I expecting too much from a $20.00 knife?

Aloha buddah88,

Sorry I only noticed your concern now.:o

However, no worries. The lock not being centered doesn't mean there is a problem. Frame and liner locks are usually constructed for "self wear adjusting". The lock will not engage fully unless with use...also, the blade should not close on you. Trust me.;)

By any chance, do you have pics?

God bless and sorry so late:cool:

To add to DW thoughts, one of the biggest draws to me for the framelock construction is the fact that the tighter you grip the knife, the more secure the locking mechanism. I've never experienced a problem with either the Subcom (or variants) or the Trance, both of which are framelocks and both of which I happily and confidently EDC!
Thanks again, DW for AWESOME designs!

Just got a couple of the camo w/PS-nice stuff, especially for the $. Jerry Van Cook did a good piece on them in the latest TK, if anyone is interested. Does anyone know about Chad Los Banos' martial arts background?

Thanks for the reply Daywalker. The knife has not closed on my fingers yet. Half the time I didn't even know I was carrying it. Great knife for the $$. I was in Hawaii back in October (Maui and Kuai). I hope living in paradise inspires even more creative knives. Yes, I was on top of Mount Haleakala when the big earthquake hit.

tasty pics...tasty mods...tasty knife... been carrying a subcom folder for a month now... love the way it fits - just right. thinking of getting the wharncliff blade subcom next. thanks for putting out a great design chad :)

Mahalo jdelacruz,

I agree!:D Welcome and keep us posted please on your "biscuit"!

God bless:cool:

I have the same problem as you, all you guys should see this video

Aloha lio,

IF that is the video of the spine whack failure, then ONLY guys who hold their knives like that under use should watch that video.

Again, read my reply to buddha88...Also, there is a good reply to that video also regarding how the framelock engages the blade more so when held in the normal manner.;)

I would like to see the lock fail when held normally, and THEN having the spine whacked!

God bless:D
