I know this discussion popped up before, but from people who have the smooth blade subcom and the wharcom, which do you like better and why? I like the wharncliff blade, but on the subcom frame, it doesn't seem as wieldy as the original subcom blade - which seems to give you more natural cutting angles. I've held both but used neither.

I'm a firm believer in the Wharncliff for general use and self defense alike, while it's a non-traditional shape I prefer it for urban usage. It's great for detail work and holds up to heavy usage. But for areas that require a blade with a belly (scraping, skinning, whittling) the original Subcom should perform better.

I carry the original Subcom bellied blade. Rather than the Wharcom, I'll be picking up the Subclaw.

I have both and prefer the Wharcom for opening boxes and cutting tape which is what the Wharcom style blade excels at. I have full confidence in its defensive capabilities too.
