Aloha ALL,
Yep...ANOTHER variant of the SF, but one that is a bit more...specialized! This RESCOM Folder ("RF") has been under works for quite some time now, and initially it was developed for troops to keep "something" close to them in order to help extract themselves from flipped Hummers.
However, taking the "big picture" perspective, I figured a rescue style blade would be great not only for troops, but for LEO, EMT, SAR, divers, fisherman, heck, make it everyone already! I know for sure, I will carry one of these clipped to my car visor or seatbelts...yes, plural: seatbeltS.
I kept the "mouth" of the hook large, as in a high stress situation, it is not that easy to use them "letter opener type" rescue "hooks". The RESCOM should be easy enough to reharpen with a tapered rod, and I am hoping that the Spyderco Sharpmaker will fit in the sharpened areas. Feedback from Germany proved that I was on the right track, as the German PD suggested even a wider opening to cut rope up to 11mm. The mouth was wide already, as I figured the troops, fisherman and such would be able to cut larger diameter paracord. Anyway, all input received, and revisions sent...
This is the final product. Boker Germany's Mr. Carsten F. Dalichow finalized my blade concept. I find it incredible how much Boker allows my input in these projects, and am grateful for it...
So here it is all. The Boker Plus RESCOM Folder. Again, steel will be AUS8, and as soon as I get one, will add further comments about it's performance. I so cannot wait for this one!!!
God bless and again, Mahalo all!
