Aloha chocochoco,

Mahalo for your support and welcome to the madness!

Initially it was supposed to have been metal. However, these studs are durable and the only ones that are known to have fallen off are the knock off versions.

Perhaps a metal stud will be on the NEXT generation...;)

God bless and no worries!

3 years more or less - besides a bit of scuffing and scratches here and there (thumbstud, clip, etc) ==> no issues.

are you saying your stud fell off after 3 years  or incur some scratches after 3 years while stud remain fine?

chad: i have not come across any known cases of thumb stud falling off too. maybe i am just paranoid. definitely looking forward to a g2 metal stud SF. glad to have a designer who is always taking feedbacks from users seriously.

good to know that.

anyway 1 more question. does subcom fall under boker plus (bo589) or boker magnum (bom589)? different retailers seem to have different product code.

Originally, they were Magnum, as Boker Plus didn't exist.
When we introduced BP, the SubCom was the first knife in the line.

And I have never had a 589 come back with missing thumbstuds, unless the owner had removed them himself. For over 4 years. The thumbstud is strong.
Thanks, Terry

Just for the record, I'd love to see the SubCom family with thumbstuds like the Trance. Mounted with the hole center right at the front corner of the current thumbstud...

... Just sayin... :)
