Hi all,

I'm interested in making new handles / pimping my CLBs, but I can't get a grip on how you make the scale. Do you fit it over the existing steel scale in place of the black plastic by hollowing out the inside one or do you just make the other side from scratch?

A pictorial would be of great help, but a description will do too!

Thanks in advance,

Generally, making the scale such that the metal liner is nested is VERY difficult, it is easiest to make the scale normally, then drill the pivot and screws such that they are "nested" in the scale itself (use two sizes of drill and threading). You should be able to use your original scale as a model for dimensions and screw placement.

Good luck :D.

P.S. Do look up the hazards of working with synthetic and non-synthetic materials ;). G-10 and some woods can do some very nasty stuff to your lungs.

Cheers for the advice! I decided to make the scale out of a CF/orange/red CF-kevlar-laminate. Should be quite nice when finished. I'm aware of the dangers though... I'm using a breathing mask and gloves when possible.

Will post pics later!

Looking forward to your scales Henri. You could do some plunge routing to get the metal liner nested, just go slow.
