Good afternoon!

The time has come to try a subhilt knife and I'd love your input regarding the subhilt. More specifically, what's a good rule of thumb for the distance of the subhilt from the guard?
I've made some wooden templates and roughly an inch seems like a good distance for my hands (medium to large size) any input on that?

Thank you in advance!

Not sure why no one's answered yet but....

I have subhilts from David Broadwell, Sam Lurquin, DH3, Tom Ferry and Dave Lisch and I measured them all....

Distance was between 1" and 1.125" on all, inside curve to inside curve at largest dimension if that helps

Interested to see what you come up with

Bill
