Hello,
I am a first time bladeforums posting, but I have been reading and taking your advice for some time. I have a general question on how one goes about submitting knife designs for production consideration. What details does spyderco like you to include, and even 'is this possible'. I think I have a good idea for one of spyderco's little big knives category. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. ~ Keith

Welcome to the Spyderco Forum.

here's a quote from a post by Sal Glesser

The normal way that Spyderco handles new designs, design concepts or prototypes is through our R&D dept. Contact Peter Jhones at Spyderco R&D dept and he can run you through the procedure.

Naturally, as an innovative company, we are always interested in new thought.

4 s ter, thanks for the reposting. I'll follow up using that channel, although i'm no knifemaker so a prototype using plastic and cardboard is prob as good as i can create.

Posting pictures here probably wouldn't be the best way for him to protect his idea - but you knew that didn't you?

Welcome to the Forum and good luck with your knife project. You can send them a drawing (or a CAD compatible file) with the schematics of the knife. Don't forget to mention the dimensions too.

Aloha! I second your welcome to the forum!

Also, be more or less as detailed as possible be it through your plastic proto or drawings. Do explain the "how" and "why"...

God bless you on this venture of yours mcinerkt!!! ;)

That was hilarious. I need a "butterfly Tactical dragon in pocket Quality high specialty knife." Can you get me one?
