Here's another commissioned piece. This was presented to a drug task force officer at his retirement banquet. It's a clip point hunter. This one is a little less detailed and more subtle than some I've done but I like it, right down to the straight grained wood handle.

Specs:
Hand forged from 1075 steel, clay quenched and etched
4 1/4" blade, 8 1/2" overall, .205" thick at the ricasso
Rounded spine and ricasso edge
False edge, almost sharp
German silver fittings with blued and coined spacers
Desert Ironwood handle

All comments welcome.

Definitely a fan! The blade, fittings, and handle on (what looks to me) three planes is...odd...but I actually like it. The butt-end groove is very interesting.
What type of grind do you use on your hunters?
Do you use a peened tang or is that an inlay for aesthetics?

I will tell you, I would be tickled pink to have it, and would put that on my belt in a heart beat!

One thing I really appreciate, is the radius on the spine and the ricasso area. Especially on a guard-less design.

Not mentioned, but I was thinking it did, is the blade tapered from guard to tip?

I think the recipient will be as pleased as I would be!

You are a master and beautiful work. The work on the blade is wonderful. Like the wood. Thanks for sharing.

WOW! I'd be lucky to get that at my retirement ;)
What a great looking blade! I would have put a lanyard tube in but that is just me! All in all superb work!!
