Subway Bowie

The pictures of the knife by itself do not convey the size, I see how tiny it is now! I was very attracted to it because of the handle design. Wanted LC200N in a fixed blade because I'm more worried about pivots and all that in a folder, over just blade steel. Carrry M4 in sweaty pants walking around all day, no issues, have steels like BD1N, S45VN, 20CV, 420HC, VG-10... if I need a stainless. If I need rust-free, I go fixed blade.

I wonder what effect that "modified clip" will have, compared to the regular clip-points. Anybody know why that is different on the Subway Bowie only?

Sorry. It's a hard pass for me.

Never liked neck knives and already knew that the Subway Bowie was too small for me.

FWIW, I'm not particularly fond of the saber grind on it either.

I understand that the a saber grind provides greater strength along the spine but why does a blade so small need such strength, given SD and light cutting duty as its most likely use? Was it due to some concern about the strength of the LC200N steel used in the blade?

In any event, the Street Beat and Street Bowie are more my speed and they both use flat VG10 ground blades.

Does anyone know if it's a hollow grind? Not a big fan of the sabre grind and lack of swedge, but a nice thin hollow grind would make up for that slightly.

No micarta? Bummer. Was hoping for a few dollar’s worth of micarta for the price.

I'd be ok with thin kydex spaced for Ulticlips or Mummert clips, too.

Thanks for that reference to Mummert clips, I've been looking for something subjectively better for my Tops Quickie. It's mostly a "get off me!" blade, which means I want to carry it deeply concealed at my front centerline. I haven't been able to make the factory clip work well for that, although the sheath has a brilliant but simple locking feature.

I have ben going crazy looking for a good running knife. It would need to be really thing and light, with a really thin Kydex sheath. I thought an UltiClip would be the best clip, but the Mummert is probably going to be better. The UltiClip is made of carbon spring steel and I rusted one out after just one distance run.
