I fired the new heat treat forge this weekend. It had us up on our toes for a bit untill we learned what gas/air mixture was required. After we got it tuned in we ran it up to 1400fh. and let it idle there for a half hour or so. The Watlow controller kept it within 8 degrees of set point. I am looking forward to the presice control this new forge will give me in the H.T.department.
I want to thank my good friend, Jeff Lawrence for programing the controller. I was at a loss in that department. Thanks to all of you, here, that gave me input on this project. It was invaluable. Fred

I have not been accomplishing much as far as new knives. This blade was promised by the 15th of May and with a little late evening work I managed to get it out on time. This knife is one of five that will be given away through the buyers club at the show at Cambridge, Ohio this fall.

Fred,
Great job on the knife. I love that wood, where did you get it?

Rick

The red malle came from Ariz. Silhoutte. They have a good eye for the wood they select to be stabilized. Good people. Fred:thumbup:

Nice work, Fred.
You ever get across the river to look at them airhammers? bruce
Hi Bruce,
I have a friend that has been apprentising at my forge for about a year. I gave him the information and he is going to take a look at them and see if they are worth the money. I may get to see one first hand.
I have a 25 ton press headed this way the end of June so we will have plenty of new toys.

Great job! That is one cool (bad choice of words) forge.

Keep me posted on your forge project. Fred

Very impressive Fred. Its quite an accomplishment to make a forge idle down below 1600f.
Nice knife too
