Shot him with with my old Marlin 336W in 30-30 and left the field dressing task to my new Cold Steel Med. Voyager.
 
Nice !! Our season starts Monday. One like that would do just fine.Had you been watching that one prior to the season or did he just happen along?

I saw him the evening before I shot him however it was a bit to dark for me to make a confident shot so I came back the next evening and wacked em' good with the old 30-30.
 
Nice buck & I like your Marlin 336 too. I once had one and made the mistake of selling it. What bullet did you use & how far was the shot? Share the rest of the story with us.
 
I used 150 Grain Reminton Core lokts and it was about a 75 yard shot. There really isn't much of a story behind it I was sitting on he ground in front of my corn feeder and he decided he wanted a bite to eat so I dropped em'.

As luck has it our season ended last sat.. I seen the one I wanted in my yard monday.. STILL flintlock season coming.
