Back in Oct we had a booth at the Brannaman pro Am roping in Santa Yanez Ca. It was a great show for us and we did really, really well over the weekend. So Sunday morning before we got busy, I stepped across the aisle from our booth to the Ozuna Boot Co booth. Sat down, got measured (very involved process took about 45 minutes) and ordered a pair of custom boots. They came last week and I wanted to share some pics with you before I get em all scuffed up. First and foremost they are the most comfortable boots I have ever had right out of the box and I've had/have custom boots before. The thing that realy struck me though was the very evident craftsmanship and pride in work. He had rebuilt these for me as when he built them the first time they didn't correspond to my measurements as he would like. So he called me told me what was going on and it would be a little longer. As a bonus for the extra little wait he did the extra fancy 10 row stitching on the tops and put a sharkskin spur gurad on the heel. These were options I'd not ordered. Came out COOL!

The foot is a glazed bullhide and the tops are kidskin.

Perfect stitching throughout.

The sharkskin overlay spur guard on the heel.

Count those rows of stitching...10 of em. I'd of been so crossed eyed trying to do that!

Anyhoo I'd thought I'd share as this is craftsmanship at a pretty darn high level. Did I mention I got new boots?

Dave, those are some really slick boots! What is the little shelf on the back of the heel for? Is it so that you can use a boot jack to get the boots off?

Thanks Chris. Its called a spur ridge and helps hold the spurs in place, gives em some place to rest. But they sure do work good with the boot jack too. But primary purpose is just to hold the spur.

Nice boots Dave, you can sure tell when someone takes pride in their work. Nice blend of form and function.

I've since replaced that rowel because the horse I'm riding right now needed just a little more encouragement than that rowel above provided. Interesting story. Somehow when Arnold was Governator here in Kali he saw that spur with its original rowel. He ordered 3 pair from my friend that made them for me. Where my innitials are on the heel band he had a silver plate put there that said from the People of California to.... and engraved with the recipiants name. Vicente Fox and his wife received two pair when Arnold was on an official visit to Mexico and Pres GW got the other pair.

John yes indeed. I'd of always thought of that little extra wide sole like this pair has more of stylish thing more than anything else. However I've found it really does a nice job of taking some of the knocks out of life. Instead of scuffing the boot that sole bumbs into whatever. Kinda like a bumper on a car deal. I've worn these boots a lot since I've had them and they are styaing pretty pristine, in a great part I think to that extra little bit of sole.

Ebb I've worn em three days in the shop, out to dinner once and horseback three times in about a week. Gotta wear em.

Gorgeous Dave. I remember you telling me about getting fit for these on the phone shortly thereafter.

Chris

Awesome back story concerning Arnold and the Spurs. I love that boot knife placement in the picture by the way.

Horsewright, in the picture with the spur on the horse, the boot leather looks like a photo of green strings. What am I seeing? rtmind/randy

Randy, the top of those boots are green. The strings you're seeing are the fringe from my old leggings. Nichole and I on the ranch few years back:

We made me some new ones last year for my birthday:
