Well, Ive been a lurker here for several weeks soaking up information etc.
While Ive had pocket knives since I was a kid, mostly just SAK and a couple gentlemans knives, I finally decided to succumb and buy a few "higher" quality knives.
I bought the following online
- Kershaw Leek Polished G10 with S30V
- Kerhaw Military boot knife
Both knives arrived today and I have been playing with them. I ate dinner with the boot knife (wife thought I was a little nuts). Its very nice, I like it. Its going in our standard camping pack as a "utility" knife.
The leek was my first assisted opener. Truthfully Im not sure how well I like the knife. The AO is a new concept for me, Im going to give it a bit more time to allow myself to adjust. Also, I have to admit I was a little disappointed by the "grip" on the leek. Yes, I knew it was polished, yes I knew it wasnt as grippy as the standard g10, but the polishing has turned it into a smooth surface with minimal grip remaining. Granted its probably a little better than stainless, but not by much. On the plus side the blade is very nice, I was torn between the straight & serrated blade and Im glad I got the straight.
Well, all for now.
