Suckered into bidding

Does this look like more Old Timer monkey business to you guys? It does to me. But after a late night of bleary-eyed computer use and eBay watching, I was suckered into placing a bid anyway. Luckily I bid below the reserve so I'm not obligated to purchase:

Old Timer Prototype? Hunting Knife
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MEBI:IT&viewitem=&item=230100416474&rd=1&rd=1

It is possible that Schrade made a few prototype Old Timer hunting knives that were never put into production. But I don't think this is one of them.

Notice the tang stamp.
Anything goofy about the Certificate of Not-Quite Authenticity?

It may very well be a "Prototype", but from Taylor, not Imperial-Schrade Inc.

Hi Bob,

The Certificate being blank and all.....:jerkit:

Now, this is only my opinion, but whomever put that knife together should be slapped.

Other than that...??

The seller insists the knife is one of the factory closeouts purchased from Blue Ridge Knives. They say that Blue Ridge Knives, unlike SMKW, did not fill out the certificates, leaving that for each dealer/reseller to do.

The certificate explanation makes sense, and explains the blank certificates appearing with certain ebay knives. I don't buy the knife being from Ellenville though.

I'm sure you are correct about the certificate. It's just sorta like not filling out and signing a check to me...let he who ends up with it, decide what it should be. :(

I don't believe I'll be bidding on this one.

Regards,

Bill

I do believe the knife is a true Schrade according to our definition. I vagulely remember seeing that variation somewhere before, but I don't remember just where. At any rate I do believe it's Ellenville and a true schrade and all those certificates are a bunch of crap any way.
