Suehiro Rika 5000 to a Kitayama 8000?

Im considering a Suehiro Rika 5000 instead of a 6000x waterstone in between a 1200 and my 8000x Kitayama..Would this be an acceptable progression? thanks
 
Yes. 4K-6K waterstone prior to 8K Kita would be fine. Muddy Kita will polising like 10K-12K.
