1/10 of my slowly growing 112 collection arrived today ! Its the 25 anniversary of the Suffolk NY police department, 1960-1985.Its really cool looking, Nickle Silver with a small 1/2 " sheild inlayed into what looks like light wallnut...The notch for the blade relase is really wide almost the whole rear bolster and on the rear side of the blade relase is a 4 didgt number (07xx),,,,Could this be a badge number?? The black leather sheath has a large silver (ink) stamp on it,no box or paperwork. (did Buck stampem themselves?) The nickle silver bolsters look almost like a matt finish including a bad fingerprint stain... I didnt find any mention of this one in Levins 5 edition or any referance anywhere...Joe, can you or any Buckroo fill in some details on this really cool 112????????? I have decided to display whatever 112s I have at the spring show in Virginia and I want to get the details right on my imformation cards Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I have dial-up, no camera, and verrry poor computer skills, but 334 is down for a visit and mabe I can get him to post a pic tommorow !

Well, at least you have a fingerprint to start your detective work.

:D

Whether four digits could be a badge number depends on how many cops there are in Suffolk. Seems high to me, but I'm from the sticks. Give their public information office a call and some veteran will remember the knife and what the number means.

I thought the same thing about the print! I just wondering whats the best way to get it off... I will givem a buzz in the morning but only Buck would know what kind of wood, number made, inlay material (peweter ?)ect, ect,

So it could be a badge number. A lot of departments did commemorative duty weapons in those days (the Model 66 S&W revolver was popular for that). Each officer could order one with his (or her) badge number on it at a very good price. Many of these, of course, were resold at a profit.

Fingerprints come out like anything else......polish and a lot of elbow grease.

And Buck may not have much information about that particular group of knives......you just never know what they have.

here you go bucksway picts o your knife...
i am late with them as sick as a dog with :thumbdn:cold... :grumpy::(
picks come up per camara order taken... hay ' sway you can cut and past to your post with comments or get the urls from your photo bucket acount..

in this one you can see the diffreance that 'sway noted to me in compairing the knives...
this i had a hard time understanding the contrast in radisus on the lock release... has any one else noted any diffreances on lock cut outs?

Hi Bucksway,

If you go to the BCCI web site you will find the information you want on this knife. Look at the limited/special knife list in the model info section. There were 1000 of them issued.

I have tried to download that section 10 times on my dialup connection...No luck yet! I really like that" Cop Buck" The NC bolsters look like a satin finish

John Foresman sells CD-Roms for the BCCI and they contain all the newsletters, price lists, and catalogs, from the very beginning. They're very handy, and info is just a click away. I think they're clearer to read than the website, on my 'putor anyways.

Thanks Scott, I wiil order that this week ! I do want to learn all I can about the 112s and Bucks in general. I love playing with them, right now I am figuring out a good display for my collection that will be new and different.
