Man, those both would look sweet set up in a custom piggyback sheath.
My thoughts exactly! The karda and the chakmak on these full size bone handle Suga seem like minor appendages, companions--small, quaint, and charming; inconsequential, decorative, symbolic. Like quiet remnants of the original design and purpose. Don't think they could fill their original roles very well. That is they do, but a little difficult to handle with larger hands.
Having said that, keeping a full size Suga and a Baby Suga together as a set makes a lot of sense. Both aesthetically, and practical.
The natural leather is very intriguing, like raw hide. Reminds me of some rawhide bones for puppies. Or the rawhide leather used in drums. The look is very striking overall, but I'm a little worried about function of the belt loop, as it seems very thin. Of note also are the tiny pouches within the scabbard for the karda and the chakmak... very paper thin, and seem delicate.
I have seen similar blade designs by other makers and I sense the original intention may have been the tourist market. So these could be intended for decorative purposes (especially the scabbard). But the blades are all function, and oh boy... them gorgeous looks.
Just a couple of observations, not intended as a negative critique. I recommend these items highly. Very happy with them
Anyone else has added these to their collections yet? Thoughts?
