This is a special order for a gentleman who lives two streets over from my father-in-law in the town of Truro, Nova Scotia. He specifically requested Sugar Maple for his handle and it just so happened that I have a good size chunk of the stuff with absolutely wonderful figuring and chatoyance. My photo skills are no match for this wood!

The knife and sheath are based off of my Liam's Hunter style, but with a bit more palm swell and contouring to the client's desire. I'll have the rare privilege of actually hand delivering this knife to its new owner when my family and I pass through Truro on a bit of an Easter road trip this evening.

Sugar Maple Hunter

Blade: 4 1/2" x 1/8" of clay tempered 1095(Aldo), flat ground, hand sanded to 600 grit, then etched and polished with Flitz to reveal a bold hamon(ha-moan, ha-mon, ha-min, hey-man, .....).

Handle: Highly figured Pictou County N.S Sugar Maple with Brizillian Rosewood liners, stainless steel pins, and a buffed Tung oil finish.

Sheath: Premium 7/8 oz veg tanned leather(W&C) with Sugar Maple maker's mark shield on the belt loop, and a buffed Mink oil finish.

Please offer up critiques and comments......let me know what you think.
Thanks for looking,

-Peter

Wow I've never seen un-dyed maple look so spectacular. That is phenomenal. Your client is going to have his mind blown with this one. I know mine is.

one o the best looking bushcrafty knives I've seen. Beauty sheath too.

Very nice, particularly the handle shaping and rosewood liners.
I know tapering the tang adds a level of complexity but IMO, takes a knife to an
elevated level. :thumbup::thumbup:

Really tidy bushcraft knife. The maple is great but I particularly like the maple sheath accent especially so because it's on the back.

I love it. I especially like your blade geometry. Even though the dark hamon is nice, I don't care for 1095 though, otherwise this is a rare piece that fits my tastes perfectly. Nice job!

Very beautiful and functional looking knife. Perfect for bushcraft/survival :thumbup:

I like pretty much everything about it. The blade proportions and grinds are beautiful, and the differential HT looks good and works hard, too. The striped maple is eye-popping. The liners and the handle swell look good and give some comforting width to the grip. Great job!
