This is a special order for a gentleman who lives two streets over from my father-in-law in the town of Truro, Nova Scotia. He specifically requested Sugar Maple for his handle and it just so happened that I have a good size chunk of the stuff with absolutely wonderful figuring and chatoyance. My photo skills are no match for this wood!

The knife and sheath are based off of my Liam's Hunter style, but with a bit more palm swell and contouring to the client's desire. I'll have the rare privilege of actually hand delivering this knife to its new owner when my family and I pass through Truro on a bit of an Easter road trip this evening.

Sugar Maple Hunter

Blade: 4 1/2" x 1/8" of clay tempered 1095(Aldo), flat ground, hand sanded to 600 grit, then etched and polished with Flitz to reveal a bold hamon(ha-moan, ha-mon, ha-min, hey-man, .....).

Handle: Highly figured Pictou County N.S Sugar Maple with Brizillian Rosewood liners, stainless steel pins, and a buffed Tung oil finish.

Sheath: Premium 7/8 oz veg tanned leather(W&C) with Sugar Maple maker's mark shield on the belt loop, and a buffed Mink oil finish.

On the top, bottom and back of the handle , I'd like to see a little bit of rounding .You asked me to nit-pick so there.
I'm a fan of light wood and that wood in contrast with the sheath adds a bit of drama !! Nice !

Very nice. Looks like it would feel right at home in my hand. I am but a novice, as far as knife building. But have handled and viewed thousands. I don't think I would change a thing on this knife.
 
Nice fit on the handle. The wood and blade look good. I'm impressed with the work you put through this!
