I finished up this hollow ground wrought iron/W2 San mai hunter with a stabilized maple Burl handle from my family’s maple sugar woods.

To bring out the wrought iron structure I used a three part etching process. First I used Ph down crystals (from the pool store) and let it etch for 30min. This brings out the structure. Then I etched in ferric chloride for two cycles of 15min, buffing with a 3000grit pad after each etch. Finally I etched in instant coffee for 10min to get the color.
