I am not a chef by any means, however I am looking for an 8-12 piece set with a block for cuisine use. I want an 8" chefs knife, 8" bread knife, steel sharpener and all the other little utility and pearing knives that come with these sets. I like the Wustoff Classic and Henckel Professional style, but I don't think I can afford them. My budget is under $150. Where are the "bang for the buck" deals in this category?? Thanks!!

Problem with knife sets is you're probably only going to like one or two of the knives in the set. If it were me I'd pick each knife on its own merits .... a good chef's knife (maybe two, different sizes-designs) a slicer, maybe a cleaver or santoku, a couple paring knives, and anything else that you need for the kind of cooking you do. Those block sets IMO get annoying taking up counter space when most the knives in it never get used.
