Suggestion for ABS site.......

I just joined the ABS as an associate member and to support the organization. I thought I might be able to post this in their forums on the ABS site, but they are more or less strictly devoted to knifemaking and associated techniques. I certainly don't have any problem with that at all but since I can't make the suggestion in there, I am putting it here to see if anyone in the ABS might agree.

This idea came to me as a result of my current efforts to put together a collection of all of the ABS MS (and some of the JS as their knives catch my eye). I lean towards Bowies and fighters but can and do buy all types. At any rate, with that as background, I think it would be a very nice gesture on the part of the ABS to have a "in memoriam" page/link on their site for all of the deceased MS (at least) with the dates of their joining, MS test passing, and death (perhaps birth dates as well). Many of these are obvious, such as Moran, Warenski, Hastings, etc but others are lesser known to newer modern collectors (Donald Lange for example) and, while they have passed on, they each contributed to the current ABS and the knife makers world in their way. The page could be more complicated, with some type of summary of the MS work or even a pic or two, but just the above would be nice IMO. Anyone agree with me?

Gatagordo,

If you are a member of the ABS you can post in their Forums.

I would suggest that you sign in and post in the Members Only, General Discussion area.

First of all, there ain't no "if". I said it and it's true.

Update: Since joining the ABS I have received an email from Ms. Cassidy regarding my joining/posting name. Apparently one is required to use their real name on the ABS site, my mistake. I registered under "Gatogordo" which is not permitted as a posting name. I don't post my real name on the internet. I am certainly not hiding from my fellow knife collectors but there are many potential downsides to spreading my name and personal information on the net and no benefits to me. I have the same situation with the CKCA which I am a member of, nice organization, great people, but I'm not posting my name on their site either. I'm sure jjtjr is right about the members only discussion, I just didn't see it yet. Finally, I sent a copy of my above initial post to Ms. Cassidy for her and the ABS' consideration.
