I just joined the ABS as an associate member and to support the organization. I thought I might be able to post this in their forums on the ABS site, but they are more or less strictly devoted to knifemaking and associated techniques. I certainly don't have any problem with that at all but since I can't make the suggestion in there, I am putting it here to see if anyone in the ABS might agree.
This idea came to me as a result of my current efforts to put together a collection of all of the ABS MS (and some of the JS as their knives catch my eye). I lean towards Bowies and fighters but can and do buy all types. At any rate, with that as background, I think it would be a very nice gesture on the part of the ABS to have a "in memoriam" page/link on their site for all of the deceased MS (at least) with the dates of their joining, MS test passing, and death (perhaps birth dates as well). Many of these are obvious, such as Moran, Warenski, Hastings, etc but others are lesser known to newer modern collectors (Donald Lange for example) and, while they have passed on, they each contributed to the current ABS and the knife makers world in their way. The page could be more complicated, with some type of summary of the MS work or even a pic or two, but just the above would be nice IMO. Anyone agree with me?
