I always thought that the Case and Queen line of traditional patterns in MOP are very classy gents knives, they generally go for around the $100 mark or less.

You do not state size so assuming small how about BM 330 or Spyderco CF Dragonfly? Slightly larger Spyderco Calypso Micarta, discontinued but I think still available.

My folder collection has consisted of dozens of makes and models over the years, but I have stuck true to Spydie and Benchmade for a good reason...their knives are excellent. I carry either a Spyderco Howard Viele in my dress boot, or my ultra slim profile Mel Pardue Benchmade 350 on my right hip, concealed behind my pager or cell phone. There are times I have had both on, forgetting about one or the other!

All around, decent looking, multi-purpose piece...go with the Benchmade 350. From camping upstate and opening tuna-cans, to the board room, it has never failed me!

If you want a knife in the 3" range you might consider the small Spyderco Centofante; it is very thin and elegant. It wouldfit well ina suit. I have not seen one personally but you might want to check out the new international series William Henrys. They come with the nice inside pocket clipped case and seem to be right around $100.

While I have no personal experience with one, alot of good things have been said about CRKT's Mirage titanium frame-lock. Price seems right and it does look to be a sharp little folder.

It's only a mistake if you fail to learn from it!

Multi blade maker, guild member, sold out VERY fast at the Blade Show. His prices are very reasonable. I have the privelege of living close to him and visiting his shop

He is a VERY nice person to talk to. I would be glad to provide anyone with contact information, he's not online.

I carry a BM 330 at work in my Dockers and it has been a very tough knife for something advertised as a gentleman's folder. It has recently been offered in carbon fiber scales, although I'm happy with my G-10.

Lets keep requirement economical in mind.
Spyderco calypso jr and BM 330 have already been mentioned. I'd add Al Mar Falchon in this category. Propably made in same factory as Calypso. Mirror finished with nice micarta handle - classic looking lock back.

Spyderco's Dragonfly with a plain blade and s/s scales is really elegant.
Also, the Toad (D'Holder) is really nice.
Both are smaller than most other knives mentioned.

A two blade congress makes for a slim, handy knife. I've seen Bokers in bone at local antique stores for $15, nicely tarnished, my wife and kids gave me a very nice older Schrade in what looks like faux pearl, and Camillus is selling one new in faux abalone.

BM330 is a great size for business attire, good size for basic day to day - the g10 handles are good too. There is no clip on it, but you will hardly know its in your pocket.

Other alternative is the BM855 or BM856 - the 855 with aluminum handles look very good, its thicker than the 330 and longer. A buddy whose daily carry is a mini-Styker just bought an 855 after seeing mine, only complaint is it is slower to flick open. Has a pocket clip, also makes a good money clip.

Regards

The suggestions for the BM330 are on the mark, but if you could spend a little more, the BM 850 is just beautiful to handle and look upon. The white micarta scales against the rainbow anodized bolsters makes for a great gents knife.. I think they are in the blow out sale listed here in the forums. Worth a look see.. Good Luck!

I'd have to Second the idea of an A.G. Russel production knife. They have lots of different, high quality folders. I carry a damascus bladed quince burl handled lockback. I recently acquired a Benchmade 850 and it is a beautiful knife. Mine is a limited edition with pearl handles, and it has to be the most beautiful production knife I have ever seen!!!

I agree with the others on the A.G. Russell line. Nice variety of materials and styles to choose from. Very nice people and great customer service.

These might not quite fit your definition of "not too expensive", but the William Henry stuff was the first thing that came to mind. Great looking designs, some nice handle materials.

Not exactly "gent" style, but the Reeve UmFaan is a nifty little gem.

See also Carolina Knives...they have a nice looking (never handled) Cocobolo interframe folder out of ATS-34. Should be decent.

Also, Paragon used to (and still may) sell a neat production version of a George Herron folder. I really dig this little knife, but don't own one yet. Semi-skinner blade profile (exceedingly useful style IMHO), cocobolo or black lipped pearl interframe inlays, $200. I should own one already.

About 1/2 way down the page at: http://www.nwcutlery.com/paragon.html

If you aren't averse to a fixed blade, my favorite suit carry knife is the Bud Nealy Pesh Kabz in 3-1/2". Bud's kydex MCS carry system is brilliant. You can suspend the knife upside down (securely) from the inside left suit pocket. Concealed, quick draw if you care about such things. Might not be the best thing in some crowds at, say, nice restaurant to cut your steak, but anyway...
