Hello at CRK, If I may give a suggestion or two. Please do not take offense to my post.I've been a fan of your knives for many years, owning a couple Sebenzas,Green Beret's,and Project one's.

First, I believe you would find a bigger demand for the one piece line if you offered a second type of steel option such as S30V,for us "stainless" folks in your whole one piece line up.Still use the coating though.

My next suggestion is most important to me.I don't know how others feel, but I would think alot are just like me.Well the Green Beret knife, is such a high quality, beautiful knife, made right here in the USA.I think the sheath, the airborne deluxe made by Blackhawk industries.Whom outsource alot of manufacturing to Asian Countries, just takes away from the "made in the USA" whole thing.I noticed on websites the Blackhawk retails for $29.99 and for $5.00 more I can get a SPEC-OPS made 100% here in the USA of better quality and design, well quite frankly it makes no sense to sell your fine knives with Blackhawk sheaths. The Blackhawk sheath is quite beneath the standards of the Green Beret knife imho.I would glady pay $5.00 more for a SPEC-OPS version.
Thanks for all the fine blades you provide us knifeknuts.Take care,Ralph

I am in awe of Chris Reeves products, period.

I do realize 2 quick things,

1. we (here and other message boards ) are an opinionated lot

2. feel free to stick our collective foot in our mouths more often than not :footinmou

:D would we consider telling Mercedes Benz to alter the color of their tan leather interior? :D

carry on!

Well some things need to be said.Just as I would expect to be told my $2,000.00 1911 has no business being carried in an Uncle Mike's nylon el'cheapo holster. But hell that's just me,I'm the opinionated type :p :p

So Tombstone... do you really think that say Mk.VI in S30V would still perform as good as it does now? No chance my friend :D There are many knives in S30V that are simply great, but for the real cutting performance there is nothing better than high carbon tool steel heat treated in a proper way... and all about these knives is PERFORMANCE. But it's just my $0.02... of course.

Some people need more performance in corrosion resistance over needing to touch up the edge a little sooner.I never said the edge on S30V would last longer than A2.All these high performance Stainless steels are high carbon anyway.A few less cuts before touching the edge up I'll glady sacrifice for less rust.I did mention making the stainless an option not replacing A2.

We always appreciate feedback - good or bad. Sometimes we can act on the suggestion, sometimes not. At the moment, offering an alternative steel for our one piece knives does not make logisical sense, nor does it make economic sense.

The Blackhawk Sheath - much of Blackhawk's product is made off shore but one of the specifications that we have made is that every sheath they send to us is made in the USA. Once or twice, they have missed offshore sheaths in their shipment and we have sent them right back. The Yarborough/Green Beret knives are 100% Made in USA!!

Thanks for the quick reply Anne.Well that is very good news to hear about the sheaths, something I was unaware.I admire your stand on the sheath manufacture being kept in the USA.I wish more companies cared about this kind of detail. This is why I have purchased alot of your products, and will continue to do so.
As far as the steel choice,I understand your position, but this suggestion of mine was with the additional cost involved being passed along to the consumer.

thanks again, and keep up the great work!!

I think the Blackhawk sheath is a fine sheath. My issue with the Spec-Ops sheath is that it uses a velcro closure to secure the knife. A tiny velcro patch is a very poor method to secure a knife in strenuous activity. I have lost an Ek knife to a failed velcro strap. I think there are only two steps upwards one can make from the Blackhawk sheath... the Eagle version with two straps, or the SOE version that Strider uses. Of course, if Reeve makes a leather one exactly the same as the ones included with the Project 1 and 2 knives, I'd buy one for the Green Beret knives as well as a few more for my most prized Ek knives.

They do make a leather sheath for the GB that is similiar to the NKonka's sheath.

kalooch, I'm aware of that sheath, and it lookes like a very nice sheath... I'd like one with a retaining strap though... just my preference.

I'm not sure what SPEC-OPS Sheath your referring too.I had a Combat Master with my first Green Beret and now own the Survival sheath model with big pouch for my second. My handle strap is sewn on the sheath and has a metal snap as the combat master's.The only velcro that I see is to adjust the handle strap smaller or bigger to accomadate different size knife handles. This piece of velcro is far from small and with the strap snapped is impossible to manipulate or loosen. This velcro could not possibly be a cause of concern in terms of retention. The kydex liner also holds knife with no rattle and strap can be off and liner still securely holds knife.
I'm not putting down the Blackhawk sheath, though it is not one of my favorite brands or designs.I was pleased to hear the Blackhawk sheath is made in the USA to go along with the rest of the product.

I assumed since you didn't see the back of the snap hardware from the picture that it did not have a snap on the retaining strap. I handled something that I thought to be a Spec-ops sheath a little while back and it had a velcro closure. I did not know of Spec op at the time so it did not occur to me to take note of the brand and construction.

I have both sheaths and I like the spec-ops the best. the blackhawk allows too much movement when the blade is sheathed. sound like a baby rattle when you do a equipment check for noise. also, the spec-ops has enough liner exposed so you don't cut the nylon when you draw or re-sheath the blade. and last but not least, try attaching the blackhawk to your body armor, better have some 550 cord or flex ties. A professional soldiers choice on this one is the spec-ops!! and if your in the market for a awesome knife, get a CRK !!! The green beret is my #1 choice. also love the project 1. :)

I found that I can remove the chicago screw that holds on the plastic insert, one can fit the project 1 or 2 in the sheath. Wrapping some sports tape around the insert and then putting it back into the nylon sheath will keep the insert secure with friction.
