So I get my bonus on Friday...I wanna get at least 1 right handed crk for a "backup/defensive" blade...I normally carry either my lg 21 or my small insingo leftie...so to complete my daishō...would an umnumzaan fit that bill? Thoughts?

A Umnumzaan would be a good choice. The only drawback I have found with the Umnumzaan is it's difficult to open with your off hand. Which is not an issue if you plan to use only with one hand.
The 25 and Inkosi are more ambidextrous oriented for leftys. I've still got 2 RH 25's that I can carry left handed and have no issues using with either hand.
I struggle trying to open the LH Umnumzaan with my right hand.
^^^^^
All that to say, you may want to think about a knife that you can use with either hand.

As somebody who is an NRA instructor, what are you worried about a backup defensive blade for man?

Like a second backup blade just to carry for EDC stuff I can see, but backup defensive knife carry, unless you've had the training specifically for knife self defense I always try to advise against. Just seen it go pear shaped too many times for the defending party.

im only rated to teach basic pistol...the reason why i was looking for a recommendation is a) i cant carry a firearm at work b) fixed blade edc/fixed blade carry isnt for me. Ive had some knife self defense training, not much tho...im going to be looking into that as well...

I wouldn't suggest a frame lock for any kind of defensive carry either way. I always like to have 2 kinds of knives on me, my large Sebenza 21 for everything daily use, food prep and enjoyment, and then i carry a cold steel variant with a good 4'' blade and a lock i don't ever have to worry about closing on me in any kind of awkward situation when panic and adrenaline can get the better of you. There's no telling what kind of messy situation will make you grip or put pressure on a frame lock bar in a bad way to make it less stable. I prefer to think of self defense knives more for dog/animal defense rather than people.

Cold Steel! HA! That's a good one.

Makes sense rabbivj, hope you didn't take any personal offense to what I said. I know it sounds stupid to tell somebody a knife for SD is a bad idea without training on an Knife enthusiast forum, but man the things I've seen :(

Also really sucks you can't carry at work. Are you still in ATL? There's a reason we don't claim that part of the state :P Good luck with what you decide, I commented in your other thread. If you're serious about knife SD training and have access to it I would highly recommend it. Should get lots of great advice on when it is and isn't a good idea to try to use one, as well as training on how to.

Off Topic - did you order and try any of that lube yet?

I used to carry a Randall #1-7 in the small of my back, then I decided to carry a firearm at all times, regardless of the legality.... Now there's CHL thank goodness. I'll be so happy if a universal carry gets passed! I'd love too pack in Cal........

I haven't ordered the lube yet. I didn't notice you were from Georgia as well....yeah I'm literally north of ATL proper.

A large Inkosi or Umnumzaan would be perfect. But let me get this straight Bubbles (Residency Sunnyvale Trailer Park, No reported income for 20 years) are the CRKs you carry in your left pocket leftie models? I ask because most CRKs come with right hand only thumb studs.
