Suggestion for Manufacturers about clips.

Why not include flat head screws(shcs) to fill the holes associated with the removal of a clip ?
This can't break you, and would provide a more versatile and finished-looking knife.
All my Benchmades, Microtechs and MOD's can go either way and don't have lint traps drilled in them. The cost was a few stainless
socket head cap screws and a .035 allen wrench @ 11 cents a pop.
Seems like a practical idea to me.

Ah Bill,
Think of you often since I filled a few holes for my dad and myself with some of the ones you got for me. Great Idea. I picked up a Kershaw/Onion 1520 a while back and got one for my dad too. Both of us love the knife. Sure wish I could fill those holes. As it is I used a cut-off wheel to take a few threads off of the screws.

Hi Gus,
I still have half a dozen or so of the screws that work on Benchmade,MOD and Microtech.
They do not work on Spyderco, and I don't know if they fit the Kershaw.
They are 256 X 1/16" Stainless Cup Set Screws and they require an .035 Allen wrench to attach.
They only run 22 cents apiece, but the problem is getting some big fastener company to sell them-even by the 100 lot.
Also, try to find a .035 Allen wrench. I had to buy 25 just to get attention. At 11 cents each, I also got a frown from the supplier.
Manufacturers have the connections and the bulk buying power I do not possess.
I'm certain, however, that the cost of the clip itself is far more than the suggested screws and wrench.

Excellent idea, Bill, but I don’t think we should hold our collective breath. If we can get the stats for the other companies, the next time I do a large order of hardware I will slip the set-screws and keys into it. People will have to provide their own lock-tite, but I would be glad to send them out with a SASE.
