Since getting rid of bumping threads, I've noticed quite a few people will (1) post a knife for sale (2) edit out all details from that thread after a short time (3) repost the item (in under two weeks). Right at this moment, there is a knife on the front page of the For Sale by Individuals / Production Knives section that has been posted four times in a month.
I've reported two of four threads for that particular case without anything happening. I imagine that's because it's hard for a mod to verify it's the same knife listed again; after all, the person edits out all traces of it (although each of the three reposts were made within a minute of editing out the previous thread).
An easy way to combat this would be to require people to leave in the make and model of the knife they list. Let them edit out the price, pics, whatever else, just not the make and model, so that people can't blank out the whole thread. That way the mods will have an idea when people are doing this.
It's definitely not perfect--a person could sell two of the same knives, for instance--but it'd help curb it a bit at least, like with the example I gave above.
Thoughts?
