I'm sure I'm not the only Spyderco user who likes this idea! I completely bead blasted my Police model then resharpened it and I LOVE it!! It's not an expensive or extremely time consuming option...took me about 10 minutes to do only because I'm picky...so why not offer this as an option for the steel handled models??

I dont think bead blasted stainless would rust more so than non (handles). Maybe the blade would require more care...dunno...mines VG-10. Sure I have a pic I can email someone if they want to post it. I wont go to the trouble of posting it online on a separate site just to have it here seeing as how this is the only knife pic I have on my comp right now. Be warned it's a web cam pic.

benciti22,

That is a good idea! I just spent a couple of hours recently polishing my toothy s/s Police model, in an attempt to remove a bunch of scratches before giving it as a gift. What a big job, and now it really shows fingerprints. I think that a bead blasted finish would be far better.

TOTC,

I've just sent you some email from "pinshooter @ canada.com". I'm letting you know so you will know who this address belongs to.

For those of you interested in sandblasted steel handled Clipits, Mike Rupert of renott.com offers this service and a few others for $10 each. [Note: His knife mods are not listed on his website.]
I started a thread in the Tactics & Training/ Practical-Tactical section with a description of the work he did for me on an Endura II.

There is a type of ceramic bead that peens the surface rather than roughing it up. This results in a surface that, I am told, resists rust as well as a satin finish.
