There are loads of knife reviews in the general forum and threads that don't qualify as either a review or review request in the Reviews & Testing area.

That's why I would like to suggest that the all threads in the latter forum should have either "Review" or "Review Request" in its title, as long with a specific model designation. This would turn that forum into a vast, clearly laid out knowledge base.

The way it is currently being handled I don't think the Review forum isn't very useful, it's merely the Blade Discussion Forum part II.

They're different communities with different attitudes. There's some overlap, of course, but in general Blade Discussion is where the newbies come (and some choose to stay there) while the denizens of Reviews & Testing have a more critical and investigative approach to knife performance (which some of the people who choose to stay in Blade Discussion find very disturbing).

Has Joe been given any guidelines as to what threads should be directed to other forums, or has this been left totally up to his discretion?

We leave it to the members to decide whether to post a thread in Blade Discussion or in Reviews & Testing. Sometimes a member will post a non-technical review in Blade Discussion because he doesn't want to start the kind of discussion that goes on in Reviews & Testing. Other times a member will start a thread in Reviews & Testing because he does want that kind of discussion of the topic, even if the initial post in the thread is not a review or test.
