I am looking for a folder.
Situation - boat (marine) for safety reasons to cut myself free of rope entanglement plus general use.

I am lefty so it needs to be ambidextrous and easy opening as my left hand a bit mucked up.

Local rescue guys prefer spyderco. I like some of the cloumbisa river opening systems though there seems to be some questions about the steel used for their blades.

Would welcome suggestions

Suggestion: The Land and Sea Rescue model from Cold Steel. I had two, let them both get away, and now I miss them.

I would suggest getting something from the Spyderco Salt Series. The blades are made of H1, and will not rust.

Yup, some of the best folders for the boating arena, the Saver Salts look nice, the Rescue with H1 steel.

Like the posts above I recommend the Salt. I live in tropical northern Australia and spend a lot of time in salt water (fishing and sailing) and have carried a Salt 1 for some time. These things are not rust resistant, they just don't rust. They weigh virtually nothing clipped on a pair of shorts, are ambidextrous, open one handed and take a serious edge.

The salt series sound the way to go - from what people are saying I could also use it as my backup dive knife - I like to carry 2 one on my leg and one one my bcd.
