Hello all. I think I have finally decided on how to make my Lg. Regular my own. I just need some help in deciding who to have do the work. I would like to have my Submarine dolphins inlayed on my Sebenza. Also I can get some smaller ones but, this is the one I was give when I qualified, so it has some meaning to me. But it may be a little to large I am not sure. This is what I need help on. Who to do the inlay work and should I go smaller. I look forward to you suggestions.

Bill

No suggestions on the work but that would look FANTASTIC if you could make it happen! I suppose that double sided tape CRK uses for the inlays might work if you couldn't have it recessed.

I have no idea who to recommend but it looks like that will feel awesome in hand and it fits the scale perfect. Good luck.

Have you approached CRK about it?

If I can suggest you, I would buy another scale and let the job done with the new one.
Whenever you decide to sell the knife you can bring it back as original and have the inlayed scale for you alone or with another knife.

I think it will look great, thanks. Of course I think of things on Thursday night or Friday and have to wait till Monday to talk to CRK. Thanks

I had not thought of buying another scale, thanks. I do not think CRK's still sells regular scales but I will try and maybe I will find something on BF. Thanks again

Wow! I think it looks great Bill!! and it would be something all your own!! I would definitely contact CRK and see what they think about it!! But I have to give it three thumbs up!!:thumbup::thumbup:
What do you think Cowboy?? Crossed Pistols or the old MP badge on a 25 ??
All the best, Dave

Thanks Dave, I will be sending a picture to CRK's tonight and see if they can help. Like the crossed pistols idea!

If you can't find someone to do the work, CRK sometimes does custom graphics. I think a gold laser graphic of your basge would look good.

Greetings Birdhunter, thanks for your service. I got an assortment of 3M tapes and used it to attach assorted things to ti scales. While the stuff is amazing, it can't be trusted with anything more than light use. I can certainly see how it works well for CRK when the decoration is inlayed.

Incidentally one of the things I tried were USAF wings. I once ran into a bunch of attack sub guys in Ft Lauderdale and was amazed at how much I had in common with them. Interesting mission. ... Were you on attack subs or boomers?

MP's ummm I think I remember having a few discussions with you gentlemen but I really do not want to go into details. It did seem we had a different definition of "just having fun".

Thanks Bill! Military Police Branch Insignia. It would look very cool but not near as nice as your Submariner Badge!!

I would have it engraved rather than have the actual item inlayed, it will also fit the scale much better. You can get good quality, deep engraving done easily that would look very much the same. Also if you ever lose the knife you are losing more than just the knife. The submariner dolphins are quite a keepsake and not something you want to part with and congrats indeed on receiving it. :)

Thank you Mal2 and thank for your service also. I was on attack sub. USS Puffer SSN 652 (68-74). I understand CRK uses tapes for their inlays so that was what I was thinking. I have sent them a email asking if they could do that. But others have bought up some good suggestions and reasons for them so I will keep thinking this one thru.

Thanks pvicenzi for you suggestion as Haze said if I loose the knife I loose the dolphins but graphics would be different. They would have to be silver laser graphic as gold would suggest an officer (would not want to be accused of being one of them.....just kidding SIR). Thanks again pvicenzi

This is exactly why I posed the question here, gentlman like you and all the others have a wealth of knowlege and willing to share. It is a very good point about losing the knife and my dolphins. If you have a suggestion as to an engraver that would be great. Thanks agin Haze.

Sorry, It must be the lighting in the picture. I tought they were a gold color.

I think that they'd look great inlaid into the knife but second the idea of a proper engraving, too many good reasons not to put your heirloom on something that'll leave the house daily.

I've seen Large Regular scales pop up occasionally, you'll have to be quick when they do but you may get lucky. Chris offered to make one for me when we had a disagreement about something they did at the spa after the model was discontinued, maybe if you catch them in the right mood they'll do the same for you.

Either way, good luck and thank you for your service.

CRK uses 3M VHB double sided tape.
Same as those used by GoPro camera mounts. They are super sticky.
