Hey all... I know nothing about knives. My boyfriend has expressed interest in a nice pocket knife, and I thought I'd look into getting him one for Christmas. He mentioned a couple specific brands... I tried to engrain them in my brain to shop for one later, but of course I forgot. I don't want to bring it up to him because I'd like it to be a surprise. I know one he mentioned had something to do with M6 maybe? It was something that sounded like a gun to me. Another brand he mentioned was a really nice brand of knives that were still reasonably priced. Anyone have any suggestions? Or know what I'm getting at with the M6? Any help would be appreciated!

Gun named knives.
CRKT m16
CRKT m4
CRKT m21
Cold steel Ak47
Boker ak 74

Im sure other guys here will know more but i hope that helps.

I think it was m16. Thanks! Any other suggestions for nice knives under $100 would be awesome!

Check alot of the kershaw offerings. Most are under your $100 and come with the industries best customer service, should the need arise. I would recommend the Rake (composite blade looks really cool), Blur( comes in a ton of colors), Knockout, Junkyard dog (comes in two sizes), Ram, The cryo would be a great one too! There is also a larger cryo 2 coming out real soon.

Would think about the best answer in your mind to these questions about him -

How often does he use a knife now if at all?

What type of tasks will he do with it?

Is he an outdoors type of guy?

Is he hard on stuff, babies it, or something in between?

How large are his hands compared to most men you know?

What kind of pants/shorts does he wear and how many items does he stuff in his pockets?

spyderco para 2 is one of the best if to expensive do a spyderco manix 2 the knife i think you are talking about is a colombia river knife tool M16 i dont care for it much

Check out spyderco, 50-75 will get him a Delica or Endura if you're willing to spend 115 or there abouts you have get him one of the best made pocket knives around, the Sage 1. you can do small or large Benchmade Griptilian for under 100, and if you're willing to spend 125 the Mini Onslaught. Kershaw has some good ones as well for MUCH less than 100 if you think he would like that kind of knife. A Case Texas jack, Backpocket, Med Stockman, Or any other mid to large size knife by Case will give you more options on color and size than most companies, and they are very nice, as well as better slicers than most modern style knife and if you spend more that 50 or 60 then you should be getting a very beautiful and usable knife. but in the end it depends on him, he might really enjoy a M16, I still carry mine that i bought 5 years ago (i trade or give away most of my knives) so look around at some quality makers and find something that is "him" and then look for the best price, there is sometimes and BIG difference between MSRP and the average price you can find if you shop around. have fun, you are a rare breed, he's lucky, oh and good luck ;)-

One of the first important considerations is SIZE.

Some states and/or cities have restrictions on the maximum size that you can carry, some even have restrictions on the style of knife. Give us a little more idea of your state and we can help with that.

A lot of good choices from the members here, you are for sure at the right place for right advise.

I'll say that if your budget is "1 bill" and you want a "nice" knife, that I'll give another nod to the Benchmade Griptilian.

They will serve a user well for many years to come and make great gifts.

Here are some really good knives for $100:

"Brand" then "Model"

- Spyderco Paramilitary 2

- CRKT M16-XXXXX ("X" being numbers referring to one of the many different models)

- Kershaw Blur

- Cold Steel AK-47 (58TLAK)

- Kershaw Blackout

- Spyderco Manix 2 XL

- Spyderco Native FRN

- Kershaw Skyline (Folding model)

- Benchmade 551

- Benchmade Barrage

I can't think of anymore right now, but most of these knives are fairly easy to find and of very good quality. Most of them can be had for under $100, the Paramilitary 2 might be $90-98. The two Benchmade knives mentioned at the end can be gotten at Knifeworks.com for 25% off with the coupon code "BR549" which is substantially cheaper than any other website will sell them for, and it makes these knives fit into your budget of under $100. But if I were you, I would get your boyfriend what he is asking for, which is one of the CRKT M16 series knives. When it comes to knives for us guys, we have very different preferences from one another, and what most guys like, your boyfriend may not like. He told you he likes a certain knife, so I'd probably stick with that. Hope I helped!

Ask what knife brands he likes again and post them here, that way we can give more specific recommendations. You want to be sure to get something he likes, knife people like us tend to show a lot of brand loyalty. His brand preferences will let us know his style as well as there are a ton of blade shapes and designs out there as well.

Give a man a cheap knife & he has a knife for a day. Give a man a BK&T, Ontario Spec-Plus, ESSE & he has a knife for a lifetime. And they are Made in the USA.
