Suggestions for a large EDC knife?

I'm looking for a good quality folder made from good steel (such as S30V) with a blade over 4 inches. Price really isn't much of an issue, I just want to know what some good ones would be to look at. I've looked at all the normal manufacturers, and have found pretty few folders of that size. I would like a tanto point, but its not non negotiable. Also, I would certainly want the ability to open and close one handed, which is why I'm second guessing knives like the CS Espada. Any suggestions?

It is not over 4" (3 3/4") but the buck/tops CSAR-t is a great heavy folder. it is ats-34 and is one tough knife.

the big cold steels can be closed one handed, but use aus8 steel, which i find to be about average.

cant think of anything with s30v and a blade over 4" in a folder.

Having just received my new XM-24, I would certainly suggest this as its a huge folder with the blade in the 4" range. Hope to post some pics this weekend after all the errands are done. Expect to pay about 1K for it. If ever there was a folding fixed blade, this is it.......I also highly recommend the Chris Reeve Umnumzaan. The blade is close 3 5/8" and is certainly big. With the way the blade profile is designed, there is little choil area, so you get near maximum cutting edge. Its my regular edc and use it for everything, and I mean everything. Its much more affordable at $400, plus TNK has a Tanto version which I am going to get one day for sure..............I like my strider smf, but for its size, it has a small cutting edge due to the huge choil, plus their customer service sucks, so if anything ever happens to it, your basically on your own. My vote, with what you stated your interested in. The xm-24, it has the spanto, which is a tanto/drop point hybrid; with a very very close second going to the CRK Umnumzaan, either in regular or tanto.

Some of these are right at or just below 4", so if you're really set on it being over 4", feel free to disregard them.

Spyderco Military (4", S30V, G-10 handle)
Spyderco Police (4.375", VG-10, G-10 handle)

Benchmade 710 (3.9", D2, G-10 handle)
Benchmade 740 Dejavoo (3.95", S30V, G-10 handle)
Benchmade 741 Onslaught (4.28", 154CM, G-10 handle)
Benchmade 760 LFTi (4" [tanto], M4, titanium handle)

Since you said price isn't much of an issue, I'll also throw out the possibility of a custom.

You can always have Demko build you a custom American Lawman to your specs.

There are very few folders around with blades over 4 inches. One you might consider is the Darrel Ralph line of mid-techs. They have 5,5 inch blades made of S30V.

What Buffalohump said. The Madd Maxx's from the HTM lineup have S30V blades that are 5.5" in length, open with the flipper, lockup is via a framelock. I have the DLC coated model and it is a heckuva knife!:)

maybe a benchmade rukus if you could find one.

Ruckus is 4-1/4" blade, but the handle to blade ratio is large... inefficient, so it makes for a really big handle to shove into your pocket (which may not matter to you). But that's what came to mind... the big Ruckus.

There are big customs available from Larry Chew, Darrel Ralph and others.
